Local Programs
Some of the service projects supported and funded
by The Zanesville Rotary Club include:
• Beautification & Environmental Committee
• – new, attractive signage at major entrances to city
• Group Study Exchange Committee
• – has hosted and introduced overseas groups to our area
• Human Development Committee
• – annual handicapped children’s Christmas party
• Infant Immunization Committee
• – provided for a student nurse to immunize area school children
• Literacy Committee
• – provided dictionaries to all 1,400 plus 3 rd graders in the area and promotes four-way test speaking competition and awards. Also provides grants to local school libraries for the purchase of reading materials.
• Youth Exchange (inbound) Committee
• – hosts an overseas student in a local school and area events for 9 months.
• Youth Exchange (outbound) Committee
• – arranges for the presentation of the Phoenix awards to seven area graduating high school seniors.
• Rural/Urban Committee
• – arranges an annual agricultural appreciation day, usually at the local county fair, and the purchase of a student-raised farm animal.
• Carr Center
• – usually supported through the annual purchase of a cake at their cake auction and funding for the Youth Services Programs. Also provided funding for new children’s playground at the center.
